On October 31, 2025, the NES Institute of Advanced Studies in Shimoga inaugurated its English Literary Club, highlighting the significance of literary clubs in nurturing language and skills of English communication.
Prof. Hooviah Gowda, Ex-Registrar of Evaluation at Kuvempu University, inaugurated the program, emphasizing the importance of English in today's competitive environment. He shared valuable techniques and traits for students to utilize the college's resources effectively.
Dr. Veena, former Principal of Sahayadri College, Shimoga, spoke about the beauty of literature and its importance in understanding the commerce world empathetically. Mr. HC Shivakumar, Director of the National Education Society, guided students on the importance of following rules and participating in group discussions.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Shivprasada B S, Principal of NESIAS, his words included that a person should acquire linguistic skills and use it as a medium in understanding the bartering world. He added that students must have a manageable command on english language, and with practice, it will be perfect. The program was hosted by Ms. Keerthana M. The invocation was given by Sharwin Lobo and Sujay Hamsabhavi, while Ms. Amulya delivered the welcome speech. Likhith L gave the vote of thanks.
Asst. Prof. Syeda Zahur Fathima delivered the keynote address,seeking the veteran's view and highlighting the importance of literary clubs in fostering a love for language and literature. Students actively participated, showcasing their passion for English.
The event envisaged the role of literary clubs in enhancing critical thinking, creative writing, and public speaking skills in students with a desire for linguafranca.
The program was organized by the English Department, with faculties Mrs. Syeda Zahur Fathima, Mrs. Veena C K, and Mr. Akash K U, along with the cooperation of teaching and non-teaching staff.
