During the Freedom struggle, Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation stressed the need for quality rural education and development of women education and urged the leaders and youth to help in promoting it. Senior Freedom fighters and public of Shimoga were first to respond to the call of Mahatma. In 1946 they set up the National education society at Shimoga which is the important place of Malnad Area of Western Ghat Region in the Country which is endowed with rich and enchanting grace of Nature.
The Society with the zeal dedication of senior leaders of the district like Mr. S.V.Krishna Murthy Rao, former deputy speaker of Loksabha, Mr.H.S.Rudrappa, Former Minister of Karnataka. Mr. P. Murudappa, Mr. R. K. Jayatheerthachar and Mr. S. Narasimha Murthy senior Advocates, Mr. S. R.Nagappa Shrestty, Ex-MLA and a great social worker and others strived hard to build the institution as founders to achieve the aspirations of Mahatma. The society started independently Managed High School in the district during 1946 and constructed its own building with public assistance. With a view to give thrust towards girl's education NES opened the first Girl's High School in the district in 1954 and gradually opened educational institutions in rural areas of the district to cater the needs of rural people.

NES Institute of Advanced Studies, established in the year of 2009 affiliated to Kuvempu University and by AICTE. One of the reputed institution in Shivamogga city for under graduate B.COM,BBA,BCA courses. The institution has seen a phenomenal growth in terms of courses offered, quality enhancement, students" staff strength besides development in infrastructure.
We are proud to have a state-of-the-art infrastructure comprising of smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a well-established library, internet access, a browsing center, hostels, various sports and other essential facilities. NESIAS, rightfully takes pride in the achievements of our alumni, teaching faculty, many of whom have distinguished themselves in their respective fields and pursuits. We are committed to providing excellent education through design of syllabi in courses that are both contemporary and conventional to cover the applied aspects in the field.

Kuvempu University an affiliating University established in 1987. It is a State University recognized by UGC under 2(f) and 12(b). The University has been named after great Kannada writer Shri KUVEMPU and has achieved a distinctive academic profile and a cultural identity of its own. Interestingly, the features of its identity seem to have emerged out of the multifaceted personality of Kuvempu, the great doyen of Kannada literature, a Jnanapitha awardee and one among the most significant cultural figures of modern India.

AICTE
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) accredits technical institutions and programs to ensure the quality of technical education in India. Accredited institutions must meet certain standards for their programs and infrastructure. Mandatory for Some Programs: AICTE accreditation may be mandatory for certain programs or courses. For example, engineering and management programs often require AICTE accreditation to ensure that they meet the necessary standards. Affiliated Institutions: AICTE accreditation is not limited to standalone institutions.

Pragati Scholarship
Scholarship/Contingency is awarded to meritorious girls taking admission in AICTE approved Technical institution at Degree/ Diploma. Total 10000 scholarship are given @ Rs 50000 as incidentals each year.
Saksham Scholarship
Scholarship/Contingency is awarded to Differently abled students taking admission in AICTE approved Technical institution at Degree/ Diploma. Scholarship given @ Rs 50000 as incidentals each year.
AICTE – SWANATH SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
AICTE has approved 'AICTE – SWANATH SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME' for children from any one of the following categories:
1. Orphan
2. Either or both parents died due to Covid-19
3. Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)
to provide them financial support of Rs. 50,000/- per annum for every year of study.

AICTE- TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY JOINT TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR TEACHERS (Scheme on hold in 2022-23)
The objective of the AICTE – University training programs is to conduct training for faculty members to prepare them for being successful in a knowledge society.
AURA(Augmenting Utilization of Research Assets)
AICTE AURA(Augmenting Utilization of Research Assets) 2024 Scheme
For promoting the utilization of I-STEM (India Science Technology Engineering facilities Map), AICTE is launching a scheme named AICTE AURA (Augmenting Utilization of Research Assets) 2024, by providing the financial aid of Rs 2 lakhs to full time/ regular faculty of AICTE approved institutions, students of PG Scholarship Scheme/ ADF Scheme/ QIP Scheme of AICTE and all students of Diploma/ Under Graduate/ Post Graduate studying in AICTE approved Institutions to boost research and mobility of researchers. The aim of this initiative is to augment existing research by utilization of public funded hardware and software R&D facilities mapped by I-STEM
Smart India Hackathon: World's largest open innovation platform
Smart India Hackathon 2019
A unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital solutions for solving the challenges faced by our country under the program of Smart India Hackathon 2017. This event was held on 1st – 2nd April 2017 for 36 hrs non-stop competition. 9544 technology students, 598 problems statements, 29 different central govt. ministries, 26 different Nodal centers & funding of Rs. 3 Lakh per team for 100 qualified teams.
